How to produce a family calendar in Excel

Microsoft Excel has many templates that you can download for free from Office.com. In this blog post we demonstrate how to produce a family calendar in Excel 2010 using one of these templates.

  1. Start Excel
  2. Choose File (tab), New
  3. Click Calendars

    In Excel choose File, New, Calendars to begin the process of creating a family calendar

  4. Double click a folder such as 2012 Calendars

    Double click a folder to see a list of calendar templates.

  5. Click Family calendar (any year, Sun-Sat) then click Download

    Click the desired calendar template then click download.

    A nice looking calendar will be downloaded and then displayed in Excel.

  6. Change the year by clicking the up or down arrow of the year’s spinner.

  7. Change the family name by clicking in cell D3 and then editing its contents.

    Edit the calendar name in cell D3.

  8. Enter holidays, birthdays and other special days as desired in columns D and H.

    As you do, notice that the dates entered are highlighted in yellow on the calendar.

  9. Optional: Enter special notes in column U.

  10. Print the calendar when ready by choosing File (tab), Print.

    When ready, click File, Print to print out your calendar.
